Accomplishments at Roy Miller: Varsity Football 1959-60; "B" Football 1958' Baseball 1958 thru 1961. Johnny Roland was on the Buc State Championship in 1960.
Johnny Roland lettered at the University of Missouri from 1962 to 1965 and was selected All–Big Eight Conference three consecutive years. His outstanding collegiate career led to his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1998.
Roland began his professional career with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he played from 1966 to 1972 and earned NFL Rookie of the Year honors in 1966. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in both 1966 and 1967. Roland concluded his playing career with the New York Giants in 1973.
Following his playing days, Roland embarked on a long and respected coaching career. He began with the Green Bay Packers in 1974 before moving to the University of Notre Dame in 1975. Returning to the NFL, he served as running backs coach with the Philadelphia Eagles (1976–1978), Chicago Bears (1983–1992), New York Jets (1993–1994), St. Louis Rams (1995–1996), Arizona Cardinals (1997–2003), Green Bay Packers (2004), and New Orleans Saints (2005).
In recognition of his contributions to the game of football, Roland was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 and the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.
