HALL OF FAME MEMBER (TEAM HALL OF FAME MEMBER, HALL OF FAME SELECTION COMMITTEE )
By Admin:
I remember his good humor and
laughter with his fellow football team mates and friends. Thank you, Hal Carew
#12, for a great season; we had fun seeing you block, tackle, and carry the
football. Hal graduated from Roy Miller in 1964.
From Miller I went to Henderson
County Jr Co, and played with my Miller Boys! Ines, Alfred, Carlos, Margarito,
and Eddie! We were pretty good, ending up undefeated 10-0, #1 in the nation and
playing in the Jr Rose bowl in L.A. I was offered a ride with The Canes which I
eagerly accepted… During my stay at Miami, I enrolled in ROTC. I was
commissioned as a 2nd Lt. Air Defense officer and received orders to S Korea,
as we had no missiles in Viet Nam. Upon
my return to the USA, I was assigned to Ft Campbell as a company Commander at
the training center, helping teach young trainees how to survive basic
training! In 1968 my enlistment ended; I was a 1st Lt. by the end my service,
which ended successfully in 1971. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it! I
married the love of my life Barbara Belk, and it's been a great marriage. I'm
retired and enjoying being with my wife and friends.
