Accomplishments at Roy Miller: V. Football 1963 to 1966; ; Favorite Nominee 1964-65; Basketball 1963-64
Keno’s career spans from 46 years in Education and Coaching
from 1973 to 2003. He enrolled at
Henderson Junior College (now known as Henderson State University) from
1966–1968, where he was a standout member of the football team. During his time there, he was on the team
that went to the Junior National Championship in Pasadena, California. Following his success at Henderson, he went
on to play for Southern Colorado State University for one year. He returned to
Texas, where he enrolled at Texas A&I University and earned a Bachelor’s
Degree in 1973. That same year he began
his lifelong career in coaching and teaching.

His coaching technique emphasized discipline, hard work, and
fundamentals, elements that defined his coaching legacy at Calallen High School
from 1973 to 1975. He moved on to then
Dickinson High School where he coached from 1976 to 1978 and help guide
Dickinson to a State Championship, thus showcasing his ability to build and
motivate players to be competitive high achievers. From 1979 to 1987 he secured a coaching
position at Refugio High School, and led them to the first State Football
Championship in school history, an achievement that remains one of the proudest
moments in the school’s athletic tradition.
In 1988 he moved on to Rockport-Fulton High School where he was head
coach, focusing on rebuilding and strengthening team unity and
performance. It was not a good match for
Keno and 1989 found him coaching at Laredo Cigarroa High School where he guided
the team to the first-ever District Championship in school history.
In 1994 returned to Corpus Christi where he coached at W.B.
Ray High School where he coached until his retirement marking a football
coaching career of 30 years’ service to Texas high school athletics in
2003. From 2006 to 2018, he coached Golf
at Incarnate Word Academy, where his players benefited from the same
encouragement, integrity, and dedication that defined his football coaching
career. In 2017, he was inducted into the
Coastal Bend Coaches Association Hall of Honor, recognizing his outstanding coaching
career, leadership, and lifelong commitment to student-athletes across South
Texas. Keno Aleman and Mary Aleman have
been married for 54 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren,
who are his greatest joy and motivation.
His legacy spans generations, his leadership-built champions, and his
example continues to inspire.
