HALL OF FAME MEMBER
Mary Sue Lester(Richie) came to Roy Miller by way of Driscoll Jr High. She graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1964, and sometime later met her Mr Right, her soulmate and nice young man that graduated from Tuloso-Midway by the name of Nathan Richey. Nathan he enlisted in the US Army for 3 years, of which he spent one of those years in Sunny Viet Nam. Fortunately, he was not in the field; nonetheless in a country that was at war anything could have happened. Mary Sue and Nathan were married 1967, about a year or so after he left the military. They settled in Baytown where he found employment, and retired after a long successful career. The Richey’s had four wonderful children; they were into their 40th year of marriage when something started going wrong for Nathan; he succumbed to cancer only months after being diagnosed.
Mary Sue and the children were devastated, it took years for her to accept that Nathan the love of her life was gone. She worked in dentistry/orthodontic field for over 35 years. According to Mary Sue, Nathan is still very much missed, and was one of the nice guys. Life did not end there, she had like another boy at Roy Miller, but it was not in the cards at that time but now a different story, as this school friend had also secretly also liked Mary Sue. Gary, was a star football player on the Varsity team. After graduation he also made his way in the world but remained friends. They got together and become more than friends, now a most happy couple in Baytown, Tx. Like the song says, "nothing else matters were together again"
